Carpet
Carpet flooring is manufactured using synthetic fibers such as polypropylene, nylon or polyester. Carpets comes in many different colors which can add décor to any room. This type of flooring is typically used indoors and can be used in both high and low traffic areas. It typically lasts for 15-18 years before it needs to be replaced. The quality of a carpet is usually measured in face weight, or how many fibers there are per square inch. The higher the face weight the more plush a carpet will feel.
Laminate
Laminate flooring is multilayers of synthetic materials infused together through a lamination process. The best part about this flooring is It can be designed to resemble any type of material but the most common appearance used is hardwood. Laminate flooring can last between 10-25 years depending on the quality.
Hardwood
Hardwood flooring is manufactured from timber and is one of the most popular choices in flooring. Wood flooring consists of two types, solid and engineered. Solid wood flooring is one solid piece of high quality wood usually ¾” thick. Engineered wood flooring is compiled of manufactured boards that are bonded together with adhesives and has a veneer hardwood on top. Both flooring is very durable with proper care will last over 25 years.
Softwood
Softwood flooring is manufactured from mostly timber wood and is less dense than hardwood. Softwood is mainly used to produce furniture, doors and paper and makes up about 80% of the wood used in the world. Pine softwood is most commonly used in flooring and with proper care can last for decades.
Bamboo
Bamboo flooring is manufactured from a bamboo plant and is considered a form of wood flooring even though it’s made from grass instead of wood. Bamboo flooring has continued to gain popularity in recent years and comes in a variety of styles and colors. Bamboo flooring although easily maintained, its susceptible damages depending on the use and climate.
Cork
Cork flooring is made from the bark of a cork oak tree. Cork flooring is composed of air filled cells and has many different designs. It comes in both tiles and planks. Cork flooring is making a comeback in recent years due to consumer demand. It has many benefits over other flooring including ease of installation, comfort under feet, durability, increases home value and resistant to mold and mildew. Cork flooring has a very long life and is easily repaired if damaged.
Marble
Marble flooring is manufactured from stone and comes in many different colors. Marble is known for its opulent appearance and adds a touch of elegance to any room. Its mostly used to transform kitchens and bathrooms into a unique one of a kind piece of art. Marble is highly durable and requires regular maintenance to keep its elegance for many years.
Stone
Stone flooring is a natural flooring carved out of solid rock. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for luxury and class. Types of stone flooring include travertine, granite, marble and slate. Stone flooring is very durable and with regular maintenance will last an extremely long time.
Vinyl
Vinyl flooring is a new type of resilient flooring. Resilient flooring includes many different manufactured products like linoleum, vinyl, cork and rubber. With its low cost and durability, vinyl flooring is frequently chosen to cover many high traffic areas. With proper care vinyl flooring will last up to 20 years.
